City of Greyhawk - Gem of the Flanaess [boxed set]

"A gazetteer of the Free City of Greyhawk and the surrounding area"

Greyhawk Wars [boxed set]

The Adventurer's Book from this board game details the official history of the Greyhawk Wars (582-584 CY), giving much useful information not found in later works. It also makes clear the timing of events during the Wars.

From the mad Malachite throne in Rauxes to the bejeweled city of Chendl in Furyondy, the Flanaess is at war! In the east, Overking Ivid V thirsts for the conquest. Vatun, Great God of the North, meanwhile unites the barbarians and Fists into a fearsome force. Not to be outdone, the dread Iuz masses humanoids and fiends in the northwest. And the Scarlet Brotherhood in the south hangs over all the Flanaess, pulling the strings of war like a mad puppeteer.

Take command of the armies yourself and change the dark course of history! Between two and six players can battle, deciding the Flanaess's fate in diplomacy and war, and leading armies and heroes across two full-color maps. Muster your armies from over 300 counters, ranging from light infantry to dragons -- with your favorite demihumans and monsters as well! With over 150 cards, you can search for treasure or mercenaries and receive the gods' blessing (or curse) through special events. When the battle come -- the times that try the souls of all -- you'll want your armies backed with the wisdom contained in the 32-page history of the actual war.

The boxed set also includes an easy-to-read 8-page book of rules, with optional advanced rules for hard-core wargamers. The Flanaess awaits an heroic deliverer -- or an oppressive overlord! Which will you be?

From The Ashes - Campaign Book [boxed set]
The purpose of this Campaign Book is to detail a local campaign setting within the world of Greyhawk, providing much more detail about a smaller area than is possible in the Atlas of the Flanaess. The area of focus is the expanded lands around the Free City of Greyhawk.

From The Ashes - Atlas of the Flanaess [boxed set]

A fully revised and updated guide for Oerth, the planet that is home to the world of Greyhawk. It supercedes the old World of Greyhawk boxed set, updating all important information from that product.

Oerth is a changed world; the events of the terrible Greyhawk Wars have altered it forever. Istus, goddess of Fate, endlessly spins her web of changes...

The Dust has settled. The smoke has cleared. The war machines of Greyhawk's armies have ground to a halt. In the aftermath of the great war, the people of Oerik piece their lives together, some struggling to retain their homes, others pilgrimaging to the cities, searching for opportunities. And searching for answers. Who is in power? Which borders still stand, and which have been dissolved? Can anyone be trusted, or have Scarlet Brotherhood agents infiltrated every inn and tavern? The lands of Greyhawk are forever changed, but provide more opportunities than ever for adventure and danger. Characters of all levels will find challenges and intrigue lurking in every alley and behind every tree.

This boxed set includes three poster maps of the Greyhawk lands, five new monsters, twenty cardsheets, two 96-page booklets describing the recovering nations and the Powers of Greyhawk, and endless opportunities for adventure!

WGR3 - Rary the Traitor

"In the agonizing aftermath of the Greyhawk wars, when conflict touched virtually every corner of the continent, few gained more infamy than Rary of the Circle of Eight. Once considered a quiet, peaceful man with few ambitions, the great mage instead was corrupted to the ways of evil, and in the process slew two of the wisest and most powerful wizards of the Flanaess. Now, fleeing south with his co-conspirator and their loyal troops, he has carved out an empire in the wilderness, and he threatens to inflict more harm and chaos on a world long grown weary of war and strife."

Thus begins this supplement for the Greyhawk campaign setting, the first since the world-shattering Greyhawk Wars boxed game. Descriptions of Rary's desert fortress in the Brass Hills are here, as are statistics on his co-conspirator, Lord Robilar. The back-breaking mines of Abbor Alz, home to the duergar, and the Ghost Tower of Inverness are detailed as well, along with dozens of other places, things, and persons. A four-color poster map of Bright Desert and its surrounding is also included.

It is not necessary to have played the Greyhawk Wars boxed game in order to use this material.

The campaign material contained in this booklet is suitable for players and referees of all levels; the adventures, however, are aimed at characters of level 8 and up.

WGR4 - The Marklands

In the wake of the Greyhawk Wars, kingdoms are struggling to survive. Beset by the hostile forces of Iuz, and the twisted soldiers of the Great Kingdom, the world's two greatest forces for good must strive to save themselves from overwhelming evil.

The Kingdom of Furyondy, rent with internal disputes, struggles to construct its northern defenses before Iuz can attack again. Southern lords protest against paying to protect northern lands, while others call for an end to the Pact of Greyhawk and all out war to recover Furyondy's lost territories.

In Highfolk and the Vesve Forest, hardy woodsmen ally with elves and gnomes to resist invaders in their homelands. The grey elves of the Lands of the Timeless Tree watch and bide their time, while the bold independence of the forest people works against them in resisting evil.

In the Kingdom of Nyrond, dissenting nobles rebel against the ancient authority of their sovereign. King Archbold must impose ruinous taxes on his people to save the realm from enemies which ring it on every side. While the forces of evil bide their time, secret forces gather to put another in Archbold's place.

The free states of the Flanaess are desperate for aid from any quarter. This is the time for heroes to take up the cause of good and come to the aid of the great and the wise.

WGR5 - Iuz the Evil

From his hideous throne in the wretched gloom of Dorakaa, Iuz the Old, Lord of Pain, stretches his bony hand across the Flanaess. Since the signing of the Pact of Greyhawk, his empire of tyranny and suffering is secure - at least for a time. None of the lands of good and hope are strong enough to threaten him. Iuz surveys his domain and cackles gleefully. He has added much to his holdings, but he is not yet content.

This sourcebook details the many lands Iuz controls; his dark priests and their magic; Iuz's fiendish allies from the Abyss; his marauding humanoid armies and raiders; and much, much more. These are lands of ineffable evil, a beacon for adventurers seeking glory within their perilous borders. Servants of good, prepare your weapons and ready your spells, for there are no challenges greater in all the Flanaess than those of the Lands of Iuz.

WGR6 - City of Skulls

Glory -- or a fate worse than death -- in the World of Greyhawk.

The dreadful jails below the appalling City of Skulls, Iuz's nightmare capital, contain many wretched and desperate captives. Among them is Earl Holmer, Knight Commander of the Shield Lands. A brave spy in Dorakaa has shown the way to find and free Holmer -- is your party up to the job of freeing him? King Belvor IV of Furyondy believes so. In the way stand fearsome priests and mages of the Lord of Pain; ogres, giants, fiends, and worse hinder the struggle to defeat the traps and guardians of Iuz. Plucking Holmer from his grasp will bring great renown, knighthood, and treasure -- for those who survive. None has ever escaped Iuz's jails. Who will be the first to use stealth or storm to breach them?

The City of Skulls presents adventure with a mighty challenge, full of dangers writ large and also unseen (until they strike). This adventure is suitable for 6-8 characters of levels 9-12, and includes pregenerated characters suitable for the quest, player handouts, a unique Notoriety system enabling the DM to draw forth Iuz's most fearsome guardians, a multi-level dungeon-jail, and much more besides. Now is the time for true heroes -- is your party skillful enough to survive and return in triumph?

WGR7 - Ivid the Undying [unpublished]

Ivid The Undying is an extensive guidebook to the Great Kingdom and its many lands, expanding on the information presented in From The Ashes. It was never published as a product but is now available "online".

The Great Kingdom is sundered, collapsed into chaos after the terrible Greyhawk Wars. An insane Overking, advised by a malefic priesthood and conversing with fiends atop his Malachite Throne, slew and revivified many of his local noble rulers as animuses, undead creatures of cold, hateful passions.

Great armies once the envy of the Flanaess wander the lands as freebooting mercenaries and pillagers, stripping the once-abundant treasures of this great nation. More than 300 years of slow degeneration and decline have climaxed in an appalling tragedy. Hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children have perished, and many more will follow in the years ahead.

In this merciless nightmare of insanity and cruelty, only a few pockets of resistance fighters, good and valiant rebels, can be found. Made up of rangers, druids, bards, and woodsmen of the great forests of Aerdy and the Lone Heath, they struggle against the growing evil and oppression.

Summary: Ivid the Undying is a sourcebook for the remains of the Great Kingdom of Aerdy after the Greyhawk Wars. Beginning with the crowning of the first Overking, the history of the Great Kingdom is followed up to CY 585, along with an analysis of why the Kingdom was so successful and why it fell. The power blocs and factions of the divided land are detailed. The main part of the work is the 'Grand Gazetteer,' covering all of the regions of the former Kingdom in detail. Note: portions of the work were printed in Dragon Magazine #204, 206, and 208, along with maps for those regions. Kent Matthewson has compiled a map of the entire area covered by Ivid the Undying

Review: At close to 142,000 words, Ivid the Undying is one of the longest Greyhawk works outside of the novels. It provides a wealth of detail about the Great Kingdom, most of which is usable whether your campaign is pre- or post-Wars. This includes information on cities, towns, and villages, the people (and others...) that live and work in them, and wilderness areas. Those wanting to run a pre-Wars campaign will need to do some work to 'roll back the clock' somewhat, while those wanting to run a post-Wars campaign where the PCs are facing off against overwhelmingly evil foes and impossible odds can jump right in.

Bottom Line: This is an excellent product, especially when you consider that it is free. Even if you prefer the 1983 Campaign Setting to From the Ashes, Ivid the Undying is worth the download time for the new information on an area of the Flanaess that was basically undetailed.

SRJ6 - Greyspace [Spelljammer]

Although Oerth is the dominant world in Greyspace, it is definitely not the only cradle of life in this system. Worlds such as Kule, Borka, and Edill have their own civilizations. Each has its own secrets to entice and threaten explorers courageous enough to brave the perils of the Wildspace.

This book details the dragons of Edill, the undead of Gnibile, the humanoids of Borka, and many others. It describes their societies, their views of the universe around them, and their relationships to the other inhabitants of the Greyspace system.

But the planetary denizens of Greyspace are not the only challenges awaiting brave adventurers! There are also spacefaring companies and starborn peddlers, adventuring groups, explorers' societies, and interplanetary pirates. In addition, the crystal sphere is home to monsters totally unlike those encountered anywhere else: the porton, the skykine, and the dreaded horg.

Greyspace is a 96-page accessory for the SPELLJAMMER(r) campaign setting. The SPELLJAMMER boxed set is needed to use this product. The material in this accessory will enhance any GREYHAWK(r) campaign in which the concept of spelljamming has been (or is about to be!) introduced. Your players are in for new excitement!

Slavers - Peril in the Pomarj
It has been a decade since the feared yellow sails of the Slavelords appeared in harbors of Wild Coast towns - ten years since friends, family, and loved ones were carried off in shackles to the inhuman lands of the Pomarj. But since then, new evil has arisen in those dark lands.

Turrosh Mak, a half-orc warlord, has unified the bickering humanoid tribes into a rapacious nation! With sword and flame, tooth and claw, he led his conquering horde north, till over half of the Wild Coast fell beneath his iron gauntlet.

Now the ships with the yellow sails have reappeared on the waters of the Woolly Bay. They have even reached the shores of the Nyr Dyv, the "lake of unknown depths", striking suddenly and carrying off every able-bodied survivor. And just as suddenly they vanish without a trace. The scourge of the Slavelords has returned.

This book features a new chapter in the Slaelords saga, and includes detailed descriptions of the cities and lands of the Flanaess, from the City of Dyvers to the dark peaks of the Drachensgrab Mountains deep in the Pomarj.
